Update on me

Well, I am home from the hospital…made it back home on Saturday January 5. Yahoo! There is definitely no place like home.
I have an incision about 12 inches in length, on my left from about under my rib cage to the middle of my abdomen. I am stapled together. Looks kind of gross. They had a drainage tube inside me and boy did that feel funky and hurt when they pulled that puppy out. While the doctor was taking out the chunk of cancer, she looked around and found no other "suspicious looking" masses. I am 90 % cured. I did however loose about 550 cc of blood and my hemoglobin or whatever it is, reached a low of 7.7 and normally it should be 11 or higher. They were talking blood transfusion, but by noon on Saturday, my blood count had elevated to 8.1 so it was improving and I was able to escape.
I want to thank my family and friends for their prayers. I really and truly believe the prayers worked, as I was walking the hospital hallways by 10 a.m. the morning after my surgery. I actually feel better than I did BEFORE I went into the hospital. And I lost all that blood too! Amazing.
I feel blessed, I really do.

Hi Debbie, Hi Gary,

So Happy to read you're home and feeling good. I wasn't sure how long you would be in the hospital and hadn't heard from Gary, I'm sure he had more important things to worry about than checking in on the computer :) I just went through it myself, waiting in the surgery waiting room for Shane for 6 hours, then 3 more waiting for recovery to say Something!. Its a terrible stressful wait, and they usually let the spouse go into recovery, and were letting others, but not me, so I was getting more and more worried after 9 hours or so, so I know how Gary must have felt. I'm sure you're both so glad its over. I didn't want to call cause I know the week I was in the hospital with Shane my cell phone rang 24/7 and it was getting a little crazy to have to keep updating people about every little thing. I know his family wanted to know what was going on, but they kind of over did it with the calls a few times a day, and I was even getting calls from cousins out of state that we haven't heard from in years :) maybe they were forgetting I wasn't getting anymore sleep than he was, probably less since I wasn't on a morphine drip, lol, I wish I was after about day 3 :) so anyway, I didn't wanna bug him :)

Anyway, so glad that chapter seems to be over for you guys and your home and feeling good. That's such great, great news.

We have a new nephew, born today, 1/10/08, 9lbs, De'Angelo is his name. Don't ask me where that name came from, I haven't talked to Janice in over 3 years. Long story, but there's a new baby in the family :) My info comes from Janice's daughter Cayleigh who has been my adopted daughter for about the past 5 years :) She sent me a picture that was sent to her, probably the only way I'll see him, he's adorable, and huge.

Liked your hospital story. I could write a book on Shane's recent hospital stay. I never left the hospital the whole week. The boys stole a cot and a mat from around the hospital, after sleeping in a chair the 1st night, and I stayed until I brought him home. Wasn't sure he'd make it outta there in one piece if I left. Pretty crazy. I don't recommend hospitals to anyone. Especially not that one. Its never a nice relaxing stay, and I sure wasn't in any shape to stay there to babysit the staff, but didn't really have a choice. Lets just hope we don't have to go back anytime soon :) Glad at least the staff was good at your hospital stay, its not always the case so you were very lucky for that part.

Well, just wanted to say I'm so, so happy that your surgery went well and your feeling good. Your post sounds so positive and up. A great way to start off the New Year, Healthy! (Even if its a little later in the New Year, not by much) I know your 2nd surgery will go just as well, and you'll have a great Healthy 2008 :)

Keep me posted on how everything/everyone is doing.

Lotsa Love from Sharyn/Sis & my Gang and my Mom too :)

p.s. Don't forget, when you're ready for your beach trip let me know :) you'll love Santa Cruz and where Bobby is, its so relaxing and peaceful and breathing that sea air just makes you feel good. :) I go when ever I can just to relax and do absolutely nothing :)
Love, Health, & Happiness to everyone for this New Year :)
And like Gary said, a little wealth couldn't hurt, lol.
